Zarif’s Former Advisor Infected with Coronavirus

Former Advisor to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif has reportedly been infected with Coronavirus.

"Hussein Sheikholeslam has been infected with Coronavirus and is currently hospitalized in Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari hospital," the editor-in-chief of the state-run news website Entekhab Mostafa Faghihi tweeted.

Sheikholeslam was a senior advisor to Zarif and had previously served as Tehran's ambassador to Syria.

It is worth mentioning, Several officials have contracted the virus in Iran, which has the highest death toll in the world outside of China, the epicenter of the outbreak.

Britain, Germany and France have offered a 5 million-euro ($5.6 million) package to Iran to help fight coronavirus in the country, Britain’s Foreign Office said in an official statement on Monday.

The epidemic has killed over 3,000 people worldwide, with the vast majority in mainland China and infected 90,000 globally.

Last week, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Iraq reported their first cases of the virus, meanwhile, the other Arab countries reported many cases over the last few days.

Several countries issued a travel ban on Iran to contain the outbreak.

China is trying with all its might to confront the effects resulting from the outbreak of the new Coronavirus via a series of strong and effective measures that seek to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by this deadly virus.

Coronaviruses are part of the family of viruses known as Coronaviridae. The new form of Coronavirus known as Coronavirus 2019-nCoV, that is currently affecting inpiduals, originated at the seafood market in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The virus was first reported to the WHO on December 31. The Wuhan market has been shut down since January 1.
