Egypt’s Zamalek SC, CAF Confederation Cup winners, are set to face Tunisia's Esperance in the African Super Cup in August 16, 17, or 18.

This comes after the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS annulled Wednesday the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s decision over replaying the African Champions League (CL) final between Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Esperance of Tunisia.

CAS also declared the Tunisian team as the winners of Africa Champions League following its ruling on Wednesday.

The five-time Champions were controversially stripped of the trophy after CAF announced that the second leg of the Champions League final be replayed.

This was after the Esperance’s opponents Wydad Casablanca refused to continue playing due to issue with the faulty VAR system.

On the other hand، the Whites managed to clinch the Confederation Cup title in May 2019.

Zamalek won the title after defeating Morocco's RS Berkane on penalty-shootouts after the regular time ended with a 1-0 win for Zamalek who equalized their 1-0 loss at the first leg in Morocco.

The Swiss manager Christian Gross has put an end to 16 years of trophy drought on International level as Zamalek's last African title was in 2003 when they defeated Wydad Casablance to win the African Super Cup title.

The CAF Super Cup is an annual African association football competition contested between the winners of the Total CAF Champions League and the Total CAF Confederation Cup. The competition was first held in 1993 and is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It is the continental equivalent of the UEFA Super Cup in European and Recopa Sudamericana in South American club football.
