Zamalek Achieves Narrow Win against Ceramica Cleopatra

Zamalek SC achieved a narrow win 1-0 against Ceramica Cleopatra in the sixth fixture of the Egyptian - Premier League to remain third on the league table.

Zamalek started the game in third place on the Egyptian Premier League table with 11 points from six games.

Ceramica Cleopatra on the other hand were sixth on the league table with eight points from two wins, two draws, and a loss.

The game had a quick start as both teams tried to take an early lead, and Ceramica were close to scoring in the eighth minute as the woodwork denied Sherif Dabo’s stunning free-kick.

Zamalek then started becoming more dominant on the pitch, showing their winning intentions which was reflected in them possessing the ball.

And just a few minutes before the half-time whistle, Mostafa Fathi finally broke the deadlock after a great teamwork for the Whites to head into the break with a 1-0 lead.

After the half-time break, Ceramica made a few attempts to get back into the game and they nearly did so through defender Mahmoud El-Badry whose effort from close range went wide.

Meanwhile, Zamalek could have killed the game early through Mostafa Fathi who missed two clear chances, before Mohamed Ounajem strangely missed the target after going through on goal.

In the final minutes of the game, the hosts shouted for two penalties on Tarek Hamed and Abdel-Shafy; however, the referee turned their requests down as the game finished in 1-0 win for Zamalek.

The White Knights are now third on the Egyptian Premier League table with 13 points after six games, five points behind leaders Al Ahly.

Zamalek’s next game will take place against Arab Contractors a month from as the league will be paused for the Arab Cup.

Ceramica on the other hand are currently sixth with eight points, from two wins, two draws, and two losses and will face Ittihad of Alexandria in their next clash.
