Sky News Australia said on Sunday it had been temporarily suspended for a week by YouTube after the video sharing platform reviewed its content for compliance with COVID-19 policies.

"Sky News Australia recognizes YouTube's right to enforce its policies and looks forward to continuing to disseminate its popular news and analytical content to its subscribers soon," Sky News said in a statement.

On it part, YouTube confirmed the suspension to Sky News Australia, which has around 1.85 million YouTube subscribers.

A YouTube spokesperson said: "We apply our policies equally to everyone and in accordance with these policies and our longstanding system of strikes, we have removed the videos from Sky News Australia and issued an alert."

Australian media reported that the one-week suspension was issued on Thursday and came after a review of Sky News Australia content that allegedly denied the existence of Covid-19 or encouraged people to use hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin to treat the coronavirus, without providing a proof.
