Youssef Chahin Festival for Short Narratives and Documentaries

The 12th edition of the Youssef Chahin Festival for Short Narratives and Documentaries will kick off on Monday.

Chaired by Tarek El Telmesany, the edition will see tributes to several artists such as Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Bedir, Arfa Abdel Rasoul, Amir Abaza.

The festival will be held under the theme of "Lesa Al Aghany Momkena," and it will last until February 24. In addition, the edition will be held at the main headquarter of Al Tagamo' party in Cairo.

In the same context, director Mostafa Wafiq announced the participation of his short film "Nehmedo" in the forthcoming edition.

The feature is set to open the film screenings of the festival, and it was awarded several prizes in international acts such as Best Actress award for the film's star Fatma Bassiouny at Waset Festival for Short Films in Iraq.

Moreover, the film participated at Gaza Festival for Women's Films, the International Online Film Festival in Syria, and the Catholic Center for Cinema.

Last year, Zawya Cinema screened a collection of short films by renowned director Youssef Chahine on 28 October.

The films range from documentary to fiction such as; “The Sacred Oil docu-fiction”, 1967, “Salwa the Girl who Talked to Cows fiction, 1970”, “Cairo – As told” by Chahine documentary, 1991. Its Only One Step “fiction, 1998”, “After 47 Years”. 2007.
