Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority announced Friday that the giant container ship “EVER ACME”, the newest container ship in the world, has crossed on its first ever sea voyage, as part of the southern convoy in the new canal during its journey coming from Malaysia and heading to the Netherlands.

According to the protocol followed by the Suez Canal Authority in dealing with ships crossing the canal for the first time, Rabie delegated both Captain Mohamed Al-Hout and Captain Galal Shabaka  to board the container ship “EVER ACME” and welcome its crew, and deliver Souvenir for the captain of the ship.

The ship “Ever ACME”, which flies the flag of Singapore, is the latest sister ship of the new generation “A TYPE” of the “Ever Green” shipping line.

It is the eleventh ship in the chain, as it has crossed 10 other ships since August 2021. The length of the giant ship is 400 meters, its width is 61.5 meters, while its cargo is 224,000 tons, and it can carry more than 24,000 containers on board.

Rabie confirmed that the successful and successive transit of the latest and largest ships of the global fleet proves beyond any doubt the readiness of the Suez Canal and its permanent readiness to provide transit services for current and future generations of giant ships with large drafts, especially large container ships, as the canal can receive 100% of the global fleet of container ships.

The head of the authority pointed out that the New Suez Canal succeeded in raising the global classification of the canal and strengthened the canal's ability to keep pace with developments in the global ship industry by increasing its numerical and absorptive capacity and increasing the navigational safety factor.

On his part, Captain CHENG SHAN REN, the ship's captain, expressed his happiness at the experience of crossing the Suez Canal, which happens to be his first time during his professional career, as well as the first crossing of the giant vessel.
