Will World Take Action to Confront Deadly Floods?

As the world is experiencing high levels of anxiety and tension and suffering from the wrath of nature, the heavy rain and hurricanes that swept Europe and the world this week, floods swept homes and left a large number of deaths and missing persons in Germany where at least 19 people were killed and dozens are missing, meanwhile, 8 people died in the southern German city of Bonn, 4 others were killed and 70 are missing in the southern Arweiler region after the River Aare, that into the Rhine River has reached its limits in some places and the basements of some homes have been flooded.

From the Rhine Basin, wrath spread to Belgium, in which two people were killed, and then to the south of the Netherlands, as I watched a clip of a blogger following a tragedy of a young girl, instead of trying to save her, he was having fun while she was being swept away by the flood in the rubble of destroyed houses and river floods.

As for Britain, which has been suffering from the drought for two years, floods flooded the streets of the British capital, London, forcing the authorities to suspend transportation. The metro tunnels were also inundated with large amounts of water, amid heavy rains and thunderstorms in separate parts of the country.

Authorities suspended transportation by buses and cars in the foggy city streets of London after they were flooded by rainwater due to the frequent storms. As usual, social media activists posted videos of submerged cars in the southwest of the capital.

On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, a wave of wrath swept many US states and reached Michigan, where rain levels reached seven inches in areas of Detroit. Heavy rains caused hundreds of vehicles to be stranded on flooded highways. Just as the torrents swept about 350 vehicles with people onboard screaming behind the windows. The same scenario occurred horribly in Orleans and Illinois and disasters hit counties such as Lake, McHenry, and flooded thousands of homes.

In China, 12 people were killed and 200,000 others were evacuated from their homes as a result of floods in central China, the water level in the rivers of Henan Province rose due to heavy rains. The Chinese president broke his silence and warned that his country was facing "extremely dangerous" floods.

Without taking about the science of rainfall on the earth, meteorologists' data and expectations about the regions that are witnessing heavy rains, and scientific talk about global warming and its impact on the increase of the rainfall in terms of quantity, intensity and wind direction, the global warming may also cause a change in the precipitation pattern globally, to include wetter conditions around latitudes and some tropics, and drier conditions in the subtropics.

However, it is noticeable that the areas covered by wrath during the past weeks are the same countries that are witnessing objections aiming at preventing signing the climate agreement. What is the cause of global warming and the ozone hole, and who is responsible for its occurrence and who will bear the responsibility to repair the defect, and who will pay the bill? Will the world take an action to confront the deadly floods?

In Africa, the northern half of the continent is mainly desert, while the central parts of our continents contain areas of very dense forests and heavy rains, including, of course, the Abyssinian plateau, where the rain belt moves across the continent to the centre by August, which encouraged the Ethiopians to accelerate the second filling of the dam without signing a legally binding agreement. Our Egypt is still far from the danger of floods and heavy rains, but the most dangerous is not only jeopardizing our water security but with climate change that is sweeping the world and causing floods and disasters, what will happen if the Renaissance Dam collapsed without signing an agreement that guarantees security, safety and operation with the neighbours?! In general, may God protect the world from the wrath of nature before it is too late!
