Weiler Names 20-Man Squad for Sundowns Clash

Al Ahly head coach René Weiler named a 20-man squad for the South Africa trip, where they are scheduled to clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final.

Sundowns are set to host the Red Devils on Saturday at (15:00 CLT).

The Red Devils managed to reach the knock-out stage as Group B runner-up, while the South African team, qualified for the last eight as Group C winners.

Al Ahly managed to thrash the South African club with two unanswered goals in the first leg at Cairo Stadium.

The eight-time African champions will head to South Africa later today with the same squad, which was present in the first leg.

Weiler has excluded a number of players in the squad including Mahmoud Kahraba, Hossam Ashour, and Mahmoud Wahid.

It’s worth mentioning that the Al Ahly faced Mamelodi Sundowns at the same stage in the last year as the Masandawana managed to knock the Red Devils out of the competition after pulling off a 5-1 win on aggregate.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed Shennawy, Sherif Ekramy, Ali Lotfy.

Defenders: Ramy Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mahmoud Metwally, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Hany, Ayman Ashraf, Ali Maaloul.

Midfielders: Amr El-Sulya, Aliou Dieng, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Hussein El-Shahat, Geraldo, Ahmed El-Sheikh, Walid Soliman.

Forwards: Marwan Mohsen, Aliou Badji, Junior Ajayi.
