The US State Department called on the Houthis to immediately stop their attacks on Yemeni ports, seize the opportunity for peace, and cooperate with the United Nations.

"On November 27, US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking travels to Oman and Saudi Arabia to support ongoing peace efforts," a US State Department statement read.

"The environment created by the UN-brokered truce represents the best opportunity Yemen has had for peace in several years. At this critical moment, we remind the Houthis that Yemenis call for peace, not a return to war," the statement added.

"So , we call on the Houthis to immediately stop their attacks on Yemeni ports, which are disrupting the flow of much-needed resources . Such attacks push Yemenis into another spiral of violence and suffering. It's pointless."

"We urge the Houthis to seize this opportunity for peace, to cooperate with the United Nations, and to accept that the only way to end eight years of devastating war through a negotiated and comprehensive Yemeni-led political settlement," the statement concluded.
