Volleyball: Egypt's U-19 into World Championship last 16

Egypt’s U-19 volleyball national team qualified for the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship last 16 as Group D winners after they defeated Japan 3-2 in Tunisia on Friday.

The Pharaohs ended the first set with a 25-19 victory, before cementing their lead in the second set with a 25-20 score.

Japan revived their hopes in the game after snatching a 25-23 victory in the third set, before equalizing the scoring in the fourth set as they pulled off a 25-15 win.

Both teams went to a decisive set as the Pharaohs managed to end this set with a 15-10 victory to reap the two valuable points, which were enough to book the Pharaohs' place in the last 16. Egypt and Japan were pooled in Group D alongside Argentina, Mexico, and Japan.

The Pharaohs now have seven points, topping their group as they will play against Mexico on Saturday, August 24 in the last game of the group stage. Egypt made an ideal start to their adventure in the tournament by defeating Germany 3-2 on Wednesday.

Germany ended the first set with a 25-17 score before Egypt took the lead in the second set with a 27-25 victory. The Pharaohs cemented their victory with a 25-17 score in the third set.

The European Champions equalized the scoring in the fourth set as they pulled off a 25-13 win. Both teams went to a decisive set as the Pharaohs managed to end this set with a 17-15 victory to get the two valuable points at the beginning of the journey

They secured a 3-1 victory over Argentina in the second game of the tournament, held in Tunisia. The Pharaohs are looking forward to following the footsteps of Egypt’s U-19 handball national team, who wrote the history and claimed the World Championship title for the first time.
