Vice President of European Commission Tours Giza Pyramids

On Tuesday, Fans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, heading the Commission’s work on the European Green Deal, who is currently visiting Egypt, made a tour at the Pyramids of Giza.

He was received by Ashraf Mohi El-Din, Director of the Antiquities area of the Pyramids, where they visited the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx.

During the visit, the EU official was accompanied by the ambassador of the Netherlands in Egypt and his wife.

He also expressed his happiness, and his fascination with the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Timmermans also was keen to take memorial photos in the Panorama area, expressing his happiness with this exciting visit.

Notably, the European Commission Executive Vice-President has started a two-day visit to Egypt during which he participated in the ministerial meetings of the Union for the Mediterranean in Cairo.

During his visit, the Commission delegation explained that the European official led the Union’s work on the recently adopted climate law, which made the EU’s 2050 climate-neutral goal a legal requirement.

In July, he presented a package of 13 distinct draft laws in the fields of energy, transport, tax, and emissions to ensure that Union Europe achieves its goals.
