Uzbek President Mirziyoyev Meets Putin in Moscow

Uzbek President  Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to Russia as part of his first overseas trip after winning a second term as a president on Friday, November 19.

The Presidency spokesperson said that Mirzioyev, who is on one-day visit, was invited by the head of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Putin revealed that his country deal with Uzbekistan as a neighboring country, asserting, that Uzbekistan is now an important regional country, and Russia has a lot in common in past and present.

Next, the Russian President revealed that 18% of Russia's trade is with Uzbekistan, regardless the pandemic as it jumped by more than 15% last year.

On his side, Mirzioyev pointed out that there is a deep engagement in the bilateral ties between both states. He reclaimed that the trade between them both reached 5 billion, and it could be increased to be 5 billion by the end of this year which will be phenomena.

Currently, both states are executing projects that estimated by $ 15 million dollar as they are keen in widening the scopes of the economic cooperation to include all economic sectors.

After that, they added that the second regional on regional cooperation will play a vital role in bringing more agreements, contracts, and industry field such as transportation, energy, goods.

In addition, Uzbekistan has 15 brunches for Russian faculties, in Egypt, 12 were opened yesterday, alongside establishing Sputnik V, and producing the first local COVID-19 vaccine.

During their meeting, both leaders exchanged some points of view about common-interest international and regional topics.

Putin and Mirzioyev asserted their keenness for more cooperation in the frame work of the UN, Commonwealth of Independent country, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Finally, they approved a joint statement about the cooperation in the field of cyber security.
