The US State Department said NATO has no aggressive intentions towards Russia, commenting on the statement by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council that considering Moscow as an enemy leads to destabilization of security in Europe.

In response to a statement by the secretary of the Russian security council, Nikolai Patrushev, a spokesman for the US State Department noted that NATO is a defensive alliance that does not pose any threat to any country, and does not have aggressive intentions against Moscow.

Previously, during the last Madrid summit, NATO adopted a new strategy until 2030, in which it considered Russia "the biggest direct threat to security."

Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, explained that the negotiations on security guarantees showed that NATO and the US did not show any desire to take into account the legitimate interests of Russia.

At the same time, the alliance is amassing a large number of its forces in the eastern direction near the border with Russia and declares that the new strategic concept of the alliance does not mean that it seeks confrontation and does not threaten Moscow, but rather strengthens its capabilities to contain it.
