The Commander of the US Central Command, General Frank MacKenzie, said, "The US army is redeploying in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA) in anticipation of any war with Iran.

MacKenzie stressed that there is an opportunity for communication between his country and Iran.

In an interview with the US website "Defense One, MacKenzie explained that his country's army uses a range of ports and air bases in the western desert of Saudi Arabia.

He revealed that the US Army develops many options and enhances the size and quality of the military presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in anticipation of any possible confrontation with Iran, especially in light of the growing military missile capabilities.

"The new arrangements will provide an opportunity for the American military leadership to redeploy thousands of soldiers available in the Gulf countries and other resources, including military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and warfighters away from Iranian missile range," he said.

The commander of US forces in the Middle East, General Frank MacKenzie, said that his country was "ready to respond" if Iran attacked it on the first anniversary of the assassination of the Quds Force commander, General Qassem Soleimani.

"We are ready to defend ourselves and our friends and allies in the region, and we are ready to respond if necessary," MacKenzie said.

He went on to say, in a phone call from an undefined place in the region, "I think we are in a very good position and that we will be ready, no matter what the Iranians and their allies decide to do."

The Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in a tweet, "Whoever ordered and carried out the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani must pay the price, and this retaliation will be inevitable at any available opportunity."
