Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research alongside the presidents of public, private and foreign universities and institutes will start implementing the online education procedures that were discussed and approved last Tuesday, to facilitate the provision of lectures to students in all universities, who will be receiving their education online starting from Sunday.

Dr. Abdelghaffar’s decisions came Based on the directions of president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to suspend studies in schools and universities for a period of two weeks, starting from Sunday, March 15, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

The minister also directed to provide technical support to faculty members in all universities to enable them to use the websites of universities, colleges and social media to provide lectures to students.

This measure is intended to prevent large gatherings of university and institute students, as a precautionary measure to prevent coronavirus, and to use this period to increase sterilization and disinfection of all university buildings and facilities, in addition to removing the negative effects of the torrential rain wave that the state was exposed to during the past days.

The Minister of Higher Education empowered university presidents to set new schedules for the attendance of faculty members and workers, which included reducing the attendance of faculty members, the support staff, and workers, in order to achieve the prevention of numerical densities on the one hand, while facilitating electronic lectures to students and facilitating university work on the other hand.

The electronic lecture plan also includes postgraduate students during the same period.

Discussions for pre-scheduled scientific theses continue, with guidance to reduce attendance for these discussions.
