UNICEF announced that 13 Palestinian children have been killed in the West Bank since January 2022.

"Another 14-year-old Palestinian boy was shot and killed in Bethlehem last Friday, the third Palestinian child killed this week alone," Adele Khodr, the Regional Director of UNICEF office in the Middle East and North Africa said.

“Since the beginning of the year, 13 Palestinian children have been killed in the West Bank - almost double the number compared to last year," she added.

Khodr stressed that "a child is a child, and their right to life must be protected by all parties."

She also called for children not to be targeted, saying children "should never be put in harm's way or be exposed to violence."

Last week, UNICEF said that a delegation from the Echo Middle East Initiative, the EU's humanitarian arm in the Middle East and North Africa, visited recently rehabilitated schools in Gaza.

Khodr mentioned that thanks to the support of the EU, UNICEF continues to help Palestinian children meet their basic and educational needs to realize their potential.
