The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that 8.5 million children are in need of humanitarian aid out of a total of 15.6 million in Sudan, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

In a report published today, UNICEF confirmed that the continued deterioration of basic social services in Sudan has led to humanitarian crises that have left more than 8.5 million children in need of humanitarian assistance.

The report added that the continuation of sectarian violence, regional conflicts, dangers resulting from the climate and the spread of major epidemics affect the lives and well-being of children in Sudan, noting that the value of the required humanitarian aid is estimated at $584.6 million, to provide basic life-saving services such as education, health, nutrition and water.
