Cairo governorate headed by Khaled Abdel Aal decided on Tuesday to change "Ezbet el-Haggana" slum area's name to "Hope City", in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives.

This move came in response to its people's desire, especially after Sisi's latest visit to the area, accompanied by Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly as well as a number of senior officials.

Last week, Sisi inspected ongoing development work in Ezbet el-Haggana in east Cairo.

During his tour, the president, accompanied by a host of ministers and officials, was briefed on the plan and efforts to upgrade and develop this uncharted heavily populated region.

The President ordered officials to keep working for developing unsafe slum areas and other unplanned areas nationwide to link these areas to the national road network, improve the living standards of their inhabitants and ensure that they have adequate access to basic services.
