United Nations (UN)'s Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he is deeply concerned about the spread of hunger in different regions of the world, at a time when the war in Ukraine threatens food security in different parts of the world.
Speaking alongside the Austrian chancellor and Foreign Minister in Vienna, Guterres said talks were underway to evacuate more civilians from conflict areas in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the UN chief played down the chances of peace talks in Ukraine soon.
The war in Ukraine has pushed up global prices for grains, cooking oils, fuel, and fertilizers, while UN agencies have warned that higher prices will exacerbate Africa's food crisis.
