The United Nations (UN) Office for Humanitarian Affairs reports that after 11 years of war in Syria, the humanitarian crisis is worse than ever as more than 13 million Syrians have been affected by the ongoing war, and 6.2 million, including 2.5 million children, are now internally displaced.

An international report titled “A Price Too High” estimated that the Syrian economy has lost more than $1.2 trillion in accumulated financial losses from the conflict and that the life expectancy of Syrian children has fallen by 13 years.

The report focused on the so-called "widows' camps", which are home to tens of thousands of widows and other women and include 28 camps in northwest Syria.

It pointed out that these women and their children face chronic and high levels of violence, including neglect, verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as marriage Children and child labor, and boys are also at particular risk of recruitment into armed groups.
