UN officials affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to independence, national sovereignty, and the right to return, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Chaba Koroshi, affirmed - according to the United Nations Information Center - that the Palestinian people - as all peoples - have a fundamental and inalienable right to live in dignity and freedom, freedom from fear and access to basic services.

Koroshi stressed the need to find a way to restore hope to the Palestinians, especially the younger generation.

In his message on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres affirmed the United Nations' commitment to achieving the vision of two states - Israel and Palestine - living side by side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as the capital of both states.
