The United Nations (UN) asserted on Thursday that the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia's Tigray is getting worse, with no sign for any improvement in the ongoing situation.

Moreover, Mark Lowcock, the UN Humanitarian Chief, touched upon the continued presence of the Eritrean troops who are supposed to leave the region.

Several reports have been received regarding sexual violence and sexual abuse by the military agents in Tigray lands.

During the latest meeting of the Security Council over the Tigray crisis, Lowcock expressed that at least 4.5 million people need urgent aid especially food, adding that he received reports of people who are suffering from deadly hunger in Ofla region.

He warned: "This should alarm us all,'' adding, "It is a sign of what lies ahead if more action is not taken. Starvation as a weapon of war is a violation.''

Furthermore, the UN official expressed that the working organizations in Tigray wished that the situation would be improved, but there is no sign of that until now.

He said: "Humanitarian staff continue to report new atrocities which they say are being committed by Eritrean Defense Forces,"

Lowcock finalized that sexual abusing is being used as part of the war's weapons which worsened the situation more and more.
