Other countries, Zelensky warned Ukrainians, would likely not send aid during the invasion. Despite this, Zelensky urged Europeans with "fighting experience" to join the Ukrainian military.

"In the protection of our state, we are left to our own devices," he remarked. "Who is willing to fight beside us?" To be honest, I don't think so."

While Zelensky stated that his government is open to talks with Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that talks can only begin if Ukraine ceases to war.

“What we’re talking about is preventing Nazis and those who push methods of genocide to rule in this country,” Lavrov told reporters at a press conference in Moscow. “Right now, the regime that is located in Kyiv is under two mechanisms of external control: first, the West, led by the United States, and secondly, neo-Nazis.”
