The announcement came after the Mayor of Kyiv said they will remove an eight-meter tall structure from the capital city. "Eight meters of metal of the so-called friendship of the two nations will be removed from the centre of Kyiv", Vitali Klitschko said as per NEXTA.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had a three-hour face-to-face meeting with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

They discussed escalating Russian attacks in the eastern European country, stressing that the United States wants to see Ukraine as a sovereign and democratic country.

“When it comes to Russia’s war aims, Russia is failing. Ukraine is succeeding. Russia has sought as its principal aim to totally subjugate Ukraine, to take away its sovereignty, to take away its independence. That has failed,” Blinken asserted.
