Andrei Yermak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's chief of staff said on Monday that Germany plans to stop importing Russian oil regardless of European Union (EU) sanctions.

In press remarks, he added that talks with alternative suppliers are underway, noting that Germany will put an end to the issue by the end of the year.

According to Yermak, the Russian oil embargo is very important.

It is worth mentioning that, Ukraine has called on the European Union (EU) to impose a ban on Russian oil imports, as part of the "sixth package" of sanctions.

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, said on Monday, that the countries that bought oil from Russia – including the US and some European countries – actually contributed to funding the invasion of Ukraine.

During her speech at the opening session of the Aspen Ideas: Climate 2022 in Miami Beach, Pelosi added that the Russian attack on Ukraine has made the idea of energy independence more important than ever.

The European Union (EU) has not yet reached an agreement on the Russian oil embargo, according to a European source.
