UK Times Incorporates 19 Egyptian Universities Among Best 1200 Global Institutions

CAIRO, Sept 27 (SEE) - Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced on Thursday that 19 Egyptian universities were listed among 1200 universities worldwide according to UK Times Higher Education World University Rankings compared with only nine universities in 2017.

 

Abdel Ghaffar was delivering a speech on the sidelines of a celebration of the American University in Cairo on the occasion of 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation by Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

 

The minister said that the AUC is the first University in the world to be accredited at the institutional level by MSCHE and the first University in Egypt to be accredited at the institutional level by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE).

 

He also stressed the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the state universities and the AUC on exchanging expertise in a way which services the prosperity of education and scientific research here. He cited establishing of the project of career development centers.

 

He pointed to setting up of 20 centers in 12 universities nationwide, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within four years. He added that the project aims to support entrepreneurship skills of more than 70% of the universities' students.

 

The minister said that the law on regulating the establishment of foreign universities in Egypt, issued in July, targets benefiting from the educational and research expertise of such colleges to make a quantum leap in the higher education system.
