On Wednesday, the British Ambassador to Cairo Sir Geoffrey Adams expressed his gratitude to Egypt for the thoughtful message that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi sent to the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon Dominic Raab MP, has extended his gratitude to the Egyptian Government for the flexibility and efficiency they have shown in helping to return over 13,000 British tourists over the last two weeks.

In a letter addressed to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the UK Foreign Secretary said that the excellent cooperation between both countries during the past weeks was an illustration of the kind of partnership agreed between President Sisi and Prime Minister Johnson when they met in London in January 2020.

El-Sisi wished the UK Prime Minister a speedy recovery a day after being moved to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with COVID-19.

“I wish a speedy recovery for @BorisJohnson, UK Prime Minister, who strongly leads his country in the fight against Coronavirus,” Sisi wrote on Facebook and Twitter.“I would like to point out that Egypt values efforts exerted by Britain under the leadership of Johnson to curb the spread of this virus.”

“I also affirm the solidarity of all in confronting this pandemic, which has united humanity as a whole towards one goal,” the president continued.

“God Bless Egypt and World peoples,” El-Sisi added.

It is worth mentioning that, Johnson was moved to (ICU) on Monday after his condition “worsened,”, according to his official spokesperson.

“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the PM has worsened and based on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the ICU at the hospital,” the spokesperson revealed.

The British PM was infected with coronavirus on March 27 and was admitted to hospital for tests yesterday as he continued to suffer symptoms of the virus.

Before he was moved to ICU,  Johnson asked the Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State Dominic Raab to assume his role.
