UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Garghash welcomed, on Saturday, the ceasefire between warring parties in Nagorno-Karabakh, describing it as a 'step toward peace'.

In a tweet, Gargash also hailed Russia's constructive efforts to reach this deal, calling on Azerbaijan and Armenia to indulge in a fruitful negotiation process that guarantees stability and flourishment of both peoples.

It is worth mentioning that, earlier today, a ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan went into effect to end nearly two weeks of heavy fighting over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Officials in the disputed region and Azerbaijani forces accused each other of firing missiles and rockets on civilian areas on Saturday morning, shortly before the ceasefire was due to start.
