The UAE police announced that a child suffocated in his father’s closed car, after he got out of it and forgot his son.
Abu Dhabi Police said that the child was accompanied by his father, who got out of the car after they reached the house, and forgot him inside, and closed it in the high heat of the sun.
The police explained that the father “was busy throughout the trip with a phone conversation about his work problems, until he realized late while inside the house, that he forgot his son inside the car.”
The newspaper “Emirates Today” quoted Mohammed Hamad Al-Esai, from the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Abu Dhabi Police, that “forgetting a child inside a vehicle is a crime and the penalty for which is imprisonment or a fine of no less than five thousand dirhams for the guardian or escort of the child, according to the Child Law”.
Al-Esai warned of the danger of leaving children in vehicles unattended or forgotten, especially with the high temperatures in the summer, which exposes them to the risk of death or suffocation due to the lack of oxygen caused by warming inside the vehicle.
