Twitter announced Today that it will restart its verification process from Friday, January 22, so more accounts will be able to get the blue tick mark from the social network, according to Gadgets 360 report.

According to the firm, it has received suggestions to add more categories including academics, scientists and religious leaders, and that it is planning to add dedicated categories for these some time later this year.

On the other hand, the firm has started sending email and in-app notifications to accounts that are at risk of losing their verified badge to inform them of what changes are needed to be made to avoid automatic removal of their blue verified badge. As long as they make those changes before January 22, their account will not lose its badge.

Earlier, Twitter has suspended more than 70,000 accounts that were primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content after violence in U.S when supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. “These accounts were engaged in sharing harmful QAnon-associated content at scale and were primarily dedicated to the propagation of this conspiracy theory across the service”, Twitter said.
