On Thursday, Twitter launched a new feature on its mobile app that would allow users to share tweets directly to Snapchat app, for the first time.

Users on the iOS platform can now post tweets on stories, or send them as inpidual messages on Snapchat by tapping on the share icon, Twitter said.

In addition, Twitter stated that it plans to roll out the feature soon for Android users as well as would start testing a similar feature for stories on Facebook Inc’s Instagram for a small group of iOS users.

The companies hope that the new change will boost engagement on both their platforms.

In a statement, a Snap representative stated that the update makes it easier and faster to share tweets to Snapchat and connects more people to the conversations happening on Twitter.

Of course, users of Snapchat and Instagram have long shared tweets in their posts, but that requires taking a screenshot from Twitter and then sharing it as a photo on the apps.

Here's how to share a tweet to Snapchat from the Twitter app:

Tweets shared on Snapchat will disappear at the same time as the Snap (24 hours if posted in a Story). If a tweet has been deleted on Twitter after it is shared on Snapchat, Snapchatters will see that the tweet has been deleted when they swipe up.

  • Tap the share icon on the public tweet in Twitter (Note: A protected tweet can't be shared).
  • Tap the Snapchat icon on the bottom horizontal scroll of icons.
  • If you’re logged in Snapchat on your phone and not in the middle of creating a Snap, then the app will open directly to the Camera and the tweet you wish to share will emerge as an immovable sticker on top of the Camera.
  • If you want to use a Lens, tap the screen to activate the Lens Carousel.
  • After you create a Snap— video or photo— you can pinch to move and resize the sticker.
  • Snapchat Creative Tools can be used at this point including captions, stickers, Bitmojis, Cameos, and Filters.
  • Tap the blue “Send” button, in the bottom right corner, to share or post your story.
  • inpiduals can now see the tweet as a sticker in your Snap and swipe up to head to Twitter to view the tweet there.
