On Sunday, a Russian cargo ship sank off the coast of Turkey’s Bartin province in the black sea, according to different Turkish media outlets.

Turkish authorities revealed that an operation has been launched to rescue the ill-fated ship's crew of 13 sailors, who are now on board three lifeboats.

Bartin Governor Sinan Guner said the Russian ship "ARVIN" sank off the coast of the Inkumu region in poor weather.

Moreover, he added that five of the crew members have been rescued so far.

The cause of the incident is not immediately clear.
