The former US President Donald Trump responded to the latest Russian actions on the Ukrainian borders, describing them as "genius," and "savvy," the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

During a radio interview with Fox, Trump said: "Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force … We could use that on our southern border.”

Next, he continued praising the strategy of the Russian president, asserting: "Here’s a guy that says, you know, ‘I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent’ — he used the word ‘independent’ — ‘and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace."

“You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response.”

In the same context, the host asked Trump about Biden's decision of naming Russian behaviors on Ukraine as invasion, uttering: "That’s a strong word. What went wrong here? What has the current occupant of the Oval Office done that he could have done differently?”

Trump responded: "What went wrong is a candidate that shouldn’t be there and a man that has no concept of what he’s do," in a reference to the argument of the Russian interference in the US presidential elections.

It is worthy to mention that the US President Joe Biden declared Russian actions in Ukraine as invasion, asserting that the “swift and severe” sanctions will be released soon, international media reports highlighted.

Hours after Vladimir Putin’s announcement of supporting the independence of the newly independent Ukraine: Donbas, Donestk and Luhansk, Russian troops arrived in Eastern Ukraine.

A White House official said: “The invasion has begun,” adding, “So our sanctions response has begun.”
