The Tourism Ministry, represented in Egypt Tourism Authority (ETA), signed an agreement with the Confederation of African Football to be an official regional sponsor for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament will be held on June 21 till July 19 in Egypt.
On her part, Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat stressed the importance of Egypt’s hosting such an event, a matter which reflects the international community’s trust in Egypt to organize great events in conjunction with its chairmanship of the African Union.
“According to the signed contract, the ministry will have the right to use the African footballers’ images and videos during their stay in Egypt and visits to archaeological and tourist destinations and share them on its various promotion platforms,” Mashat said.
She pointed out that the ministry spares no effort to benefit from the global sports events to promote Egypt. The minister added that placing Egypt’s name in the international playgrounds is a good advertisement.
Meanwhile, ETA President Ahmed Youssef said: “The ministry will have the right to display “Egypt Where It All Begins” logo and ETA’s link on the CAF website as well as using CAF logo on the ministry’s advertising media.”
Youssef pointed out that the authority’s motto will be put in the matches’ conferences, adding that the playgrounds’ billboards would display promotional contents about Egypt for one minute and a half between the matches’ halves.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt was officially the regional sponsor of Africa during the FIFA 2018 World Cup.
