LONDON, Sept 23 (SEE)- Hotels and restaurants are scrambling to get a good rating on the "TripAdvisor" site amid allegations that one out of every three reviews is "fake," The Times newspaper said.

An independent analysis of tens of thousands of reviews on the world's most popular travel site showed that hotels offering accommodation and breakfast in major tourist areas had twice the number of "fake" reviews compared to low-priced hotels.

Two-thirds of the comments on the best hotels in the most prominent tourist places are questionable, according to the newspaper.

The Times journalists revealed that some sites buy five-star ratings on a TripAdvisor for £38, in addition to putting negative ratings for competitors.
