Thief Dressed in All Black Robs 2 Banks within Hour in Berlin

Two banks, only about three kilometers apart, in Germany's capital Berlin were robbed by a thief on Tuesday, within an hour, the police announced on Twitter.

Some surveillance photos showed that the thief was wearing sweatpants and flip flops during the thefts. In addition, he would have subsequently fled by bicycle.

According to the the Berlin police, the first raid took place at 9.15 a.m. The thief went to a Commerzbank counter on Hauptstrasse in Schöneberg.

There he threatened a bank employee with a knife and demanded money from him. Finally, he was able to escape with an undetermined amount.

While, the second attack took place around 9.45 a.m., this time at a bank branch of the Kurfürstendamm. Here, too, he threatened an employee with the knife.

The police pointed out that the perpetrator has fled "without being recognized." It was not yet known whether any money was stolen during the robberies.

But the bank’s security department immediately saw what was happening. This time the thief fled without prey.
