Back to School: Savory Muffins, Chocolate Crinkles Recipes

There is no doubt that everyone whether old or young enjoys some savory muffins and chocolate crinkles. So, the famous food blogger Ameera Aboulseoud shared her special savory muffins and chocolate crinkles with “See”.

Aboulseoud pointed to the fact that these two recipes can be meal prepped in the weekend and stored in the freezer to be enjoyed throughout the week. Just place them in the microwave for 30 seconds and they are ready to go.

Savory Muffins

• Ingredients

− 2 cups of flour.

− 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder.

− ½ a teaspoon of baking soda.

− ½ a teaspoon of salt.

− 1 egg.

− 1 cup of milk.

− ¼ a cup of yogurt.

− ¼ a cup of oil.

− 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.

Savory Muffins

Mix dry ingredients with the wet ingredients before adding whatever fillings you want, Aboulseoud used:

− ½ a cup of feta cheese.

− ½ a cup of black olives.

− ½ a cup of sun-dried tomatoes.

− ½ a cup of green onions.

− 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.

Scoop the batter into a greased muffin pan before placing it in the oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.

Chocolate Crinkles

• Ingredients

− 1 cup of cacao powder.

− 2 cups of sugar.

− ½ a cup of oil.

− 4 eggs.

− 2 teaspoons of vanilla.

− 2 cups of flour.

− 2 teaspoons of baking powder.

− ½ a teaspoon of salt.

− ½ a cup of powdered sugar.

Chocolate Crinkles

Mix the cacao powder, oil and sugar together with a wooden spoon before adding the eggs one at a time, combine together with the mixer and add the vanilla.

In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt together before gradually adding the flour mixture to the cacao mixture. Combine everything together with a wooden spoon. Place the batter in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

Now for the fun part!!

Roll the batter into balls before coating them with the powdered sugar and placing them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Make sure the balls are not touching and place them in the oven at 180 degrees for 12 minutes.

Let the crinkles cool for 10 minutes before serving!!

(This recipe makes about 72 of the chocolate crinkles).
