The Egyptian Standards and Quality Authority has issued a decision to implement the full standard on local and imported cars, after an absence of more than 8 years since the decision of Rashid Mohamed Rashid, the former Minister of Industry, to oblige local factories to implement 10 specifications.

The decision to adopt new specifications on cars within the framework of the reduction of import randomization, as a decision was issued on the new specifications on the owners imported or manufactured locally No. 8351 for the year 2018.

The transport Division of the Chamber of Engineering Industries at the Federation of Egyptian Industries revealed that the pision will hold a meeting to review the terms of the resolution and discuss mechanisms for its implementation. The Chamber will also examine ways to implement the decision of the Standards and Quality Authority and the timetable for their entry into force.

The full specification will limit the import randomization experienced by the automotive sector for years, after the ten technical specifications issued in 2010 failed to control the market, which was applied only to domestic vehicles, without imported.

It is worth mentioning that the total technical specifications on cars worldwide up to 130 standards, countries vary in their application, Germany, for example, apply about 40 specifications on the parts of the car produced.

There are rumors about the establishment of laboratories to test the standards on all industries, including cars, in partnership with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt, pointing to the Ministry's willingness to establish them in accordance with international standards.

He said that there is a proposal to launch an Egyptian joint stock company in partnership between the public and private sectors represented by agents and manufacturers of cars to set up laboratories to test the cars of domestic and imported investments estimated at 100 million Egyptian pounds.
