Universal debuted a new trailer for Ethan Hawke‘s horror-thriller movie “The Black Phone”.

It also stars Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, James Ransone, and E. Roger Mitchell.

The movie is directed by Scott Derrickson from a screenplay he wrote with longtime collaborator C. Robert Cargill.

It is based on the award-winning short story of the same title by Joe Hill.

The movie features Thames in his first film role as Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who is abducted by a sadistic killer (Hawke) and trapped in a soundproof basement. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Shaw learns that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims.

Derrickson, Cargill, and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum are producing the picture with Hill serving as an executive producer.

The movie reunites Hawke with the filmmakers and producer of Blumhouse’s 2012 horror smash “Sinister”.

"The Black Phone" hits theaters on June 24.
