Thailand on Friday reported 103 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,978, said a health official.

There were four new deaths in the country, bringing the total fatalities to 19, added a spokesman for the government’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, Taweesin Wisanuyothin.

It is worth mentioning that the COVID-19 confirmed cases have exceeded on Thursday one million people worldwide, half of whom are in Europe.

The novel coronavirus has also claimed the lives of nearly 50,000 people, amid expectations that America will become the new epicenter of the epidemic.

More than 500,000 injuries were recorded in Europe, the most affected continent, at a time when the numbers are increasing in the United States (215,000).

According to White House estimates, COVID-19 could kill between 100,000 and 240,000 people in the United States.

In Europe, the pandemic has claimed the lives of more than a thousand people in Belgium, which has seen the number of deaths double in three days, especially due to the calculation of deaths recorded in retirement homes.

However, the largest number of deaths on the continent is still in Spain, where Thursday announced the death of 950 injured people in 24 hours, in a new record. This country fears that the number of injured may exceed the capabilities of the intensive care units that are currently operating at full capacity.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 800,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

The virus, which causes respiratory disease Covid-19, claimed the lives of more than 39,000 worldwide. It also hit a number of top political figures around the world.

Transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.

It is known that older people appear to be more vulnerable to the effects of the emerging virus.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel, with the aim of curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, and some have pledged billions of dollars in economic stimulus programs to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.

The virus caused complete paralysis in all sports activities worldwide, as many countries around the world suspended all the sporting activities due to concerns over the spread of the virus.
