Health Ministry: Egypt Passes 3rd COVID-19 Wave

President’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said on Friday that Egypt passed the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition, it sees a continued decline in daily infections number.

During a phone interview with TV anchor Rania Hashem, Tag El-Din highlighted that following the protective measures against the virus and speeding up the process of vaccination are key players in declining the number of infections in Egypt.

The president's advisor added that Egypt will receive 25 million Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines after holding an agreement with the African Union and the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Regarding the dramatic spread of the Delta variant (Indian strain) in the world, Tag El-Din explained that Egypt started to apply strict medical measures in all ports to prevent the spread of the new variants in the country.

Tag El-Din also expressed that Egypt will succeed in vaccinating 40% of the population in the upcoming few months.
