Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that 262 members of the Turkish occupation army and the factions supporting it, were killed during the Turkish attempts to occupy northeastern Syria during the past two days.

Syrian Democratic Forces said that 22 of its fighters were killed in the clashes, pointing out that there are many civilian casualties including children and women.

Many major countries including the United States, Russia and most European countries, condemned the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory, warning of the consequences.

Arab foreign ministers are scheduled  to hold an emergency meeting in the Arab League on Saturday on Syria.

On Wednesday, Egypt strongly condemned the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that this step represents a blatant and unacceptable attack on the sovereignty of a brotherly Arab state.

The statement warned of the consequences of the Turkish move on the unity and territorial integrity of Syria or the course of the political process in Syria in accordance with Security Council resolution 2254.

Noteworthy, Turkish offensive in Syria has been widely condemned by Arab and European countries. Turkey launched a military operation against Kurdish fighters in northeast Syria on Wednesday just days after U.S. troops pulled back from the area.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan claimed the aim was to eliminate what he called a “terror corridor” on Turkey’s southern border.
