Walid Al-Hogail, a Saudi researcher in weather and climate affairs, published, on Thursday, a video clip in which he documented massive swarms of locusts attacking crops and trees in Al-Qassim region in Saudi Arabia.

“Swarms of locusts reached Al-Qassim, Zulfi, Sudair, Al-Washem, in addition to the governorates north of Riyadh today, Thursday,” Al-Hogail wrote on Twitter.

“The way locusts and beetles migrate is incredible. It uses the air currents and makes it travel long distances,” he added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Water called on all citizens to report immediately upon seeing swarms of locusts.

The Ministry stated that exploration and control operations are still going on to be ready for any coming swarms.
