On Saturday, Sudanese Health Minister Omer Al-Najeeb announced his infection with COVID-19.

"Since the beginning of the week, I felt some symptoms suggestive of infection with the coronavirus. I made the test and the result was positive," Al-Najeeb said in a statement.

The minister affirmed that he is recovering now, thanks to the vaccine he had previously got, noting that he is currently working from home where he is quarantined.

In the same vein, he called on all citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible so as to protect themselves and their families.

Meantime, Sudan has so far recorded a total of 37,715 COVID-19 cases, including 2,837 deaths, according to the ministry.
