Sudanese military sources told the Sudan Tribune news website that violent clashes erupted between the Sudanese and Ethiopian armies on the border zone between the two countries.

The sources pointed out that the battles are taking place in areas in the localities of Al-Qureisha and Basanda, in eastern Sudan, noting that “the Sudanese army repelled an Ethiopian attack in the area of Qala’ al-Labban, where seven Sudanese soldiers were executed by Ethiopian servicemen.

Sudan has accused Ethiopia of supporting armed militias to invade  Sudanese territory.”

However, the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry had commented on Khartoum's accusation that Ethiopia had executed 7 Sudanese soldiers, saying that the recent border incidents were fabricated, indicating that the Sudanese army soldiers were killed by local militias.
