The Civil Defense Department in Sudan directed citizens on Thursday to take precautions after a big rise in the water levels of the Blue Nile, which led to the death of to students who drowned in the capital, Khartoum.

In its statement, the Department indicated that the search for the bodies of the students who drowned in the Blue Nile is continuing after the current swept them into the river, the Sudan Tribune newspaper reported.

The Department said that the levels of the Blue Nile rose in all stations as a result of the successive rainfall on the Ethiopian plateau. The Al-Faw area of Gedaref state is witnessing a massive wave of torrential rain, so thousands of citizens left their flooded homes.
