LONDON, Sept 24 (SEE)- A new study conducted by the University of Leeds confirmed that yogurt contains more sugar than Coca-Cola.

The research conducted on 900 yogurt products, proved that organic yogurt contained more sugar than a 100ml of Coca-Cola.

While natural and Greek yogurt can be classified as low in sugar, the study comes as health officials encourage manufacturers to reduce the amount of sugar consumed.

Flavored Yogurt contains a sugar content of 16.4 grams per 100 grams. This category also includes some other non-yogurt products such as chocolate mousse and caramel.

There has been a significant reduction of sugar consumption in yogurt products since the study was conducted in 2016. Reports show that sugar content in yogurt has declined by 6 percent and is expected to decrease by 20 percent in 2020.
