Strong diplomatic representation in WYF2018

Sharm El-Sheikh, the main resort city on the Red Sea, under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi, is hosting the second World Youth Forum (WYF2018) from November 2-6.

Sisi attended the WYF2018 opening ceremony, with participation of dozens of World leaders and diplomats, such as Italian Ambassador in Cairo Giampaolo Cantini and the U.S. political officer.

“The US Embassy supports the Government of Egypt’s efforts to draw on its most important resource, its people, particularly its young people, as it forges ahead toward a better future," the US Embassy Spokesperson Sam Werberg told SEE.

Werberg affirmed that the US Embassy is represented at the WYF2018 by an Embassy Political Officer, adding that "The Embassy is seeking consistently new and better ways to engage with Egypt, and sees efforts to encourage youth participation in public and private service as an interest shared between the Washington and Cairo."

Bahraini Minister of Youth and Sports Hesham al-Juder is representing his country in the WYF, while the Mecca Prince Khalid al-Faysal is representing the Saudi Kingdom.

Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Osama Nugali has attended only the opening session on Saturday. Nugali posted a video on his Instagram account, expressing his pleasure to visit Sharm el-Sheikh resort.

French Ambassador to Egypt Stéphane Romatet is the Paris envoy in the WYF2018, according to the embassy's press attaché to SEE.

Belarus Ambassador Sergei Rachkov is representing his country at the forum. Rachkov lauded the success of the first edition of World Youth Forum (WYF) that was held on November 4-10, 2017.

On Oct. 31, He told state-owned news agency MENA that Belarus attaches great importance to youth and programs focusing on education and development.

He added that a memo of understanding will be signed soon between the Egyptian Youth and Sports Ministry and Belarus Education Ministry to boost bilateral cooperation in outlining youth-related policies.
