Stray Dog Becomes Destination for CIBF Visitors

The 51st edition of the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) has just got a lot more interesting as visitors a new reason to go to it, a stray dog.

The dog had appeared at the book fair since the day it started, which has kicked off last Wednesday at Egypt International Exhibition Centre, in Fifth Settlement ( El Tagamoa El Khames).

She was keen to visit and greet the visitors' who adored and played with her.

Soon the visitors grew to know of her and went to the book fair specifically for her; she even became internet famous since a Facebook user took to the social platform to write about her.

She managed to capture the hearts of social media users and visitors.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly kicked the book fair in the presence of Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, and Head of The General Book Authority Dr. Haitham Al-Hajj.

The 51st edition will run from January 22 until February 4 – with Senegal as this year’s guest of honor.

Moreover, the book fair has named Egyptian scholar and geographer Gamal Hamdan, who wrote the Encyclopedia of Egypt’s Personality, as the focus personality of the year.

It has commemorated Hamdan with posters and banners bearing his name.

CIBF, one of the Arab world’s oldest and largest book fair, has drawn annually over one million visitors over the past years.

The book fair is held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

This edition has witnessed an increase in the number of pavilions, with the participation of 900 publishing houses, in addition to 41 libraries from the Al-Azbakeya wall.
