Stock Market Gains EGP 13.3 Bln Amid Bullish Expectations after Eid Al Fitr Holiday

The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) indices recorded strong gains during the week's sessions ahead of Eid Al Fitr holiday, supported by strong purchases by Arab investors.

The market cap rose by EGP 13.3 billion to reach EGP 672.2 billion at the close, compared to 658.09 for the same period last week.

The benchmark EGX 30 index rose 1.7% to 10,767.84 points.

The EGX 70 EWI, the broader index of the leading small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) rose 1.46% to 2,161.97 points.

The all-embracing EGX 100 index rose 1.51% to 3096.77 points.

The Stock Exchange started the official holiday on Wednesday, May 12 until Sunday, May 16 on the occasion of celebrating Eid Al Fitr.

Finally, analysts have bullish expectations for the stock market following the feast holiday, given the positive news on both the corporate and macroeconomic levels.
